A Letter to the WEBELOS II who will become Boy Scouts in early 2008

In order to achieve Arrow of Light, the WEBELOS must participate in or observe a Boy Scout activity. Troop 59 conducts different activities that we invite your young Scouts to take advantage of:

· Hickory Run State Park (near Jim Thorpe, PA, about 2 hours’ drive)

· Lenape District Klondike Derby

Another requirement for Arrow of Light is to visit at least one Boy Scout troop. Troop 59 meets every Monday night from 7:30 ‘til 8:30 p.m at Buckingham Elementary School. Please try to arrange for your entire den to come at the same time. Since we take the same amount of time to share information whether 1 or 10 attend, larger groups ease demands on our own time, and you also may gain more information based on questions others may ask. It’s important that the parent of the Scout attend, as we will review in detail what to expect from the Troop, what the Troop expects from the Scout, and what the Troop expects from the parents. Please call me ahead of time so I’m aware of how many will be attending.

Be sure to tell all your boys that I’m really looking forward to meeting them, and that I wish them well as they begin their final few months as a Cub Scout. Please call me if you have any questions.

Yours in Scouting,

Dave Hollander, Scoutmaster, Troop 59
