What I can keep on my uniform? |
This is a great question that gets asked by all of the new Scouts that come into the Troop.
The Scout Handbook that you received at your Crossover contains information that you will find very useful on the parts of the uniform and a scoutmaster will review what the requirements are for the complete uniform during your training sessions as you advance to Scout. We know that you earned many different awards and honors during your time in Cub Scouting. Can you wear all of those awards and honors on your Boy Scout uniform?
The answer is yes and no.
There are some items, earned during your Cub Scout time that may be properly worn on your Boy Scout uniform. These include, the Arrow of Light (which should be placed on the lower part of the left breast pocket of the tan shirt), the World Crest, the year pins that you earned during your time in Tigers and Cub Scouts, any religious medals or patches that were earned, the Council shoulder patch and the the American Flag. Also any temporary patches earned may remain on the right breast pocket. All of your other awards should be removed and put in a safe place for keeping. These include your rank badges (Tiger, Bobcat, Wolf and Bear), any belt loops, activity pins (Pinewood Derby etc), and WEBELOS pins.
Some people place these on a wooden plaque for display in their rooms at home. Also you will receive a new Patrol patch soon so please remove your WEBELOS Patrol patch for now. If you have any questions-please speak with your scoutmaster or his Troop Guides and they will help answer your questions.
